ABOUT
xiexie is a Tokyo based band that was formed in 2020. They are compose of four musicians, Meari (Vocals ＆Guitar), Yamato Kouda (Guitar), Teruyuki Kai (Bass) and Kouichi Hida (Drums). xiexie is a band that gathers four very experienced musicians into one place to create a new world parallel to ours. Their music is influenced by indie pop, dream pop, and psychedelic pop from overseas, mixed with their original style and Japanese lyrics and melody. Their music is reminiscent of artists such as Alvvays, Faye Webster, and Crumb but their sound has a heavier Asian indie music flair.
They released their eagerly-awaited debut album wellwell on June 12th via P-VINE Records. The songs capture an energy currently unmatched in the Japanese indie music scene, and the live performance is equally enthusiastic.
xiexie is quickly growing into a critical piece of the burgeoning indie rock scene in Asia, having played FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL in 2022, sold out shows in Taiwan, and collaborated with other acclaimed artists such as Tommy Guerrero, Subsonic Eye (Singapore), Lesssugär (Thailand), Door Plant (Thailand), and i’mdifficult (Taiwan).
