ABOUT

Hello bozo.

My name is Kian Stevens-Winston and I am Sugar Pit. My music is satirical dance-punk full of nervous energy. My videos are performance art turned into short-form content. I do everything myself in my bedroom — play all the instruments, produce all the music, solder selfie sticks onto a BDSM collar to make a wearable art piece, hand-paint and sew custom merch, design the artwork, direct my own public
stunts, and edit it all on CapCut. I AM THE DIY KING. I love this shit and it’s my life.

I started Sugar Pit in rural Illinois when I was sixteen. I recorded on a Scarlett 2i2 and uploaded to SoundCloud. The project followed me through Philly and San Francisco before landing in Los Angeles in 2022. The first big thing to happen was my song “Customer Service” going viral on TikTok — it was about hating your job and people really related. That momentum led to a deal with Atlantic Records.
I released my first album Shhh...Don’t Jinx It on Atlantic — a gleeful, funny post-punk collage about being a regular guy wanting SOMETHING MORE. Anthony Fantano gave it a 7/10. I toured it through packed, sweaty DIY basements across the coasts and opened for FIDLAR on a sold-out U.S. run, playing 1200-cap rooms for a month straight.

When I got home, I wanted to make something riskier and more abrasive. I isolated for a month and wrote another album quickly and angrily. When I showed it to the label, they hated it and dropped me. Now fully indie, I’m releasing my sophomore record FREAKING OUT INDOORS on November 6 — it’s vulnerable, abrasive, and painfully relatable to a generation swallowed by isolation and dopamine overload.

I’m on my phone all the time, which I think is part of why people like me. I answer DMs, reply to comments, scream on my story, and I’m trying to start a beef with Dominic Fike. That asshole. My reels blur the line between unhinged public stunts and performance art: sneaking into junkyards wearing a collar of kitchen knives, eating raw steak inside a Planet Fitness, hiring Craigslist actors and dancing in
front of them in my tighty-whities. I keep playing freaky, packed-out house shows. Like I said, I’m the DIY king and I plan to stay that way.

Love,
Kian
