Star 99
ABOUT
Star 99 is a ragtag group of five best friends that met through their hometown DIY scene in San Jose, CA. Their first EP “My Year in Lists”, a nod to the Los Campesinos song, was released in 2021. They have since shared the stage with Los Campesinos, Jeff Rosenstock, Algernon Cadwallader, Anamanaguchi, Sobs, Scowl, Spy, and Supercrush. In 2023 they released their debut full length “Bitch Unlimited” on Lauren Records, where the band’s hard twee sound was realized.
Their full length “Gaman” expanded upon and deepened their sound and messaging. Where “Bitch Unlimited” is fast, energetic, and punchy, “Gaman” is an exploration of the effects of colonization, generational trauma, and joy despite it all. The album was recorded and engineered by Grace Coleman of Different Fur in San Francisco and mastered by Andrew Oswald of Paradise Records.
