ABOUT

Rotterdam’s rousing Rats On Rafts joined the Fire Records roster – alongside visionaries Virginia Wing, Noveller and Death And Vanilla – in the latter half of 2015. Following the release of second album ‘Tape Hiss’ on Fire in October 2015, Rats On Rafts returned in 2016 with new single “Some Velvet Morning” and spring tour that saw them share the stage with Pere Ubu at London’s Tufnell Park Dome and supporting Mission of Burma on a host of European dates.

Abrasive and uncompromising, their Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood cover far from emulates with its twisted and dark original take on the classic.The B-side is their last single ‘Last Day On Earth’ taken from their lastest album ‘Tape Hiss’ which saw them feature in Mojo’s talent section ‘Mojo Rising’. Hotly tipped as ones to watch across all corners of the music press the “Rotterdam awkwardists churn underground noise with bracing warped pop appeal” (Mojo).

Their autumn 2015 tour included performances at Incubate, Le Guess Who festivals as well we established European venues such as Club Bad Bonn and Espace B. 2016 saw the release of a collaborative album with Dutch underground punk / brass ensemble De Kift – a playful re-visioning of each other’s music which began at Metropolis Festival in 2013.

The record brings together songs from Rats On Rafts critically acclaimed second album ‘Tape Hiss’ and De Kift’s huge catalogue. The two bands locked themselves up for a month to record a completely analogue album. The release coincided with a run of raw, energetic collaborative tour/festival dates in the Netherlands. Rats On Rafts are David Fagan, Arnoud Verheul, Natasha van Waardenburg and Mathijs Burgler.
