Joanna Wang weaves bits of Americana with baroque pop, rock, punk, video game soundtracks, jazz, and folk into whimsical and irreverent tunes that often approach the themes of innocence and cynicism.
Since releasing her debut album in 2008, she has created a series of distinctive projects over the years, including “The Adventures of Bernie the Schoolboy,” “Galaxy Crisis: The Strangest Midnight Broadcast,” “BOB MUSIC,” “House of Bullies,” “Modern Tragedy,” and most recently, “Hotel La Rut”, which was featured on The Needle Drop’s favorite albums of 2024.
Joanna Wang has been the recipient of several Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan over her distinguished decade-long career, and continues to push boundaries as one of the most creative contemporary songwriters of our era.
