ABOUT
El Da Sensei is a hip-hop artist from Newark, New Jersey, and is a respected figure in East Coast hip-hop . He gained early recognition in the 1990s as one third of the legendary Artifacts, known for their influential debut album Between a Rock and a Hard Place (1994) and the classic track "Wrong Side of the Tracks." After the group disbanded, El Da Sensei launched a successful solo career, with notable releases like Relax, Relate, Release (2002) and The Unusual (2006), which highlighted his sharp lyricism and commitment to authentic hip-hop. He later formed the duo XL with Sadat X of Brand Nubian, releasing XL in 2015. In 2024, he collaborated with producer MentPlus on The Unexpected, blending classic hip-hop with modern sounds. Throughout his career, El Da Sensei has remained dedicated to preserving the essence of the genre, earning respect as one of hip-hop's true practitioners.
